Fourth edition of Heritage walk organized

Monday, 23 September 2019 | PNS | Chandigarh/Samana

The fourth edition of Heritage walk was organised on Sunday by the renowned NGO, Patiala Foundation, under its I Heritage project wherein it has joined hands with Go UNESCO with an aim of promoting culture and heritage amongst locals.

Under the #MyheritagePatiala campaign, the team visited 1250-year-old Roza Shehzaday-E-Imam Mashhad Ali Bin Hazrat Ali Moosa Raza AS (Panj Peer) and other important heritage places of Samana.

The Chief Principal Secretary to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh Suresh Kumar, who led the walk, said that the heritage walks play important role in connecting the youth with the rich culture and heritage of the region.

Kumar said that as an individual, we are not even aware of the heritage places of our respective areas leave alone the places of Punjab. “Such Heritage walks played important role in connecting the youngsters with their rich culture and heritage,” he said.

He added that the month of November was being celebrated by Punjab Government as the month dedicated to 550 year birthday celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev.

“Having already held four heritage walks, the Patiala foundation’s fifth Heritage walk should be at Sultanpur Lodhi — the land of Guru Nanak Dev — where Gurdwara Sahib Sri Bed Sahib and many other places are dedicated to the Lord. This would help more and more people know about the rich heritage of Sultanpur Lodhi,” he added.
