Union Minister for Road Transport & Highway, Water Resources and River Development, Nitin Gadkari on Thursday said Chandigarh will soon witness transport revolution with the introduction of double decker and sky bus to facilitate the daily commuters here.
“This will not only reduce the mounting pollution here but also give an affordable transport mode for citizens,” said Gadkari while addressing intellectuals from different walks of life at Law Bhawan, Sector 37 here.
In Chandigarh to seek votes for party’s candidate Kirron Kher, Gadkari said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always endeavour to develop the basic infrastructure in which road transport and water transport are always been the top priority.
Gadkari informed that when BJP assumed the power in 2014, the road construction pace was barely two km per day which has now increased to 32 kilometres per day. Ministry so far has spent over Rs 17 lakh crores in this sector which has brought the smooth sail in transportation across the nation, he added.
