Four member gang of thieves targeting passengers in moving train was arrested and recovered valuables worth Rs 9 lakh from their possession said GRP SP Manish Agrawal while speaking with the media person during a press conference on Monday.

Government Railway Police (GRP) Bhopal arrested four miscreants involved in thefts and robberies and recovered massive amount of stolen valuables from their possession. The miscreants were carrying a reward of Rs 10000.

The miscreants nabbed were active and involved in several crimes in the past and when they were nabbed they were trying to escape with the stolen goods but were chased and nabbed. 

In the initial investigation police have nabbed Mohammad Amir and when he was grilled he confessed crimes along with his other accomplices.

Based on the investigation the three arrest were made and the three were identified as Mohammad Faizan, Mohammad Imran and Mohammad Abid. The nabbed accused are resident of Bhopal.

SHO of GRP Bhopal Hemant Shrivastava said that the accused are involved in thefts and robberies in the past and have been booked by GRP Bina, Bhopal, Ujjain and by Talaiya, Gautam Nagar and Shahjehanabad police.

Providing the modus operandi police said that the accused used to target passengers in moving trains and would escape while train continues to speed.

During the investigation two more incidents have been confessed by the accused and more recoveries are likely to be made in the further investigation.

The action was taken after victim Dr. Simita Karjgaonkar’s purse carrying valuables worth Rs 9 lakh were stolen in speeding Trishatabdi Express(12913) from Ujjain to Nagpur. The victim pulled chain to stop the train but the gang managed to escape.
