Girl married 1.5 yr ago dies of bullet injury, hubby held

A 28-year-old woman died of bullet injury in Vishwas Nagar area of Shahdara district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Shivangi Kasana, who was working as teacher at a private school in Dilshad garden. Police said they were informed by the hospital authorities at 11 am regarding a body with bullet injury in head.

"The woman was married to Prashant Kasana for a year-and-a-half and was blessed with a baby girl couple of days back. The woman's husband claimed that she shot herself with a pistol. He was present at home when the incident occurred," said a senior police official adding that no suicide note has been found from the spot.

"The woman was rushed to a nearby hospital by her husband where she was declared brought dead. She sustained bullet injury on her head," said the senior police official.

"A Sub-Divisional Magistrate has been informed and the statement has been recorded. On the basis of enquiry and inspection of site, a case has been registered in connection with the incident under section 302 of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and 25/27/54/59 of Arms Act at Farsh Bazaar police station," said the police official privy to investigation.

"The weapon of offence has been seized and husband of the deceased has been apprehended. No previous complaint was found in police records," said the police official, adding that they are probing all angles including that of any family dispute.  "The exact cause of death will be ascertained after the post-mortem. The husband runs a footwear shop in Anand Vihar area and further investigation is going on," the police official added.
