GO released on reservation for District Panchayat head’s position

A day ahead of counting of votes polled in three-tier Panchayat elections, the provisional reservation for positions of District Panchayat chairpersons was released on Sunday by the state administration. The reservation status has been released for all districts except Haridwar.

The secretary in-charge Ranjit Kumar Sinha informed that the government order for the provisional reservation status for posts of District Panchayat chairpersons for all districts expect Haridwar had been released.

According to the Government order the posts of district Panchayat chairperson has been kept unreserved in Uttarkashi, Tehri, Chamoli and Almora.

In Pauri, the post has been reserved for scheduled caste and in Rudraprayag district it has been kept reserved for scheduled caste (woman). Similarly, the position in Dehradun district has been kept reserved for scheduled tribe (woman) while in Pithoragarh district it has been kept reserved for other backward classes (woman).

The position of district Panchayat head in Udham Singh Nagar, Nainital, Champawat and Bageshwar districts has been kept reserved for other women. Sinha further informed that any person who has any objection to the reservation status can submit the complaint in the office of the Panchayati Raj secretary’s office or to the district magistrate concerned. The district magistrate will forward the complaints received to the State administration.
