The transfers of Government school teachers expected after Diwali have got stuck up as the department of personnel is yet to give its consent to the transfer’s lists. The issue of transfers of teachers of the Government schools of the State is pending for long. The education department did large scale on request transfers of teachers in June this year but on the complaints of irregularities, it cancelled many of them and appointed a three- member committee to review them. On the recommendation of committee, the complaints were referred to the committee headed by chief secretary, Uttarakhand under section 27 of Transfers Act-2017.
The recommendation of the committee of chief secretary on this issue and the department’s decision on cancellation of transfers done against norms in the year 2017 are pending with the department of personnel. On Tuesday, the secretary education Meenakshi Sundaram said that the file of transfers is pending in the personnel department.
It means that the transfers expected after Diwali are expected to be delayed further. The transfer of teachers is one of the most contentious issue in the department which employees maximum number of employees.
After the implementation of the Transfer Act of 2017, the education department undertook the exercise of transfers for the first time.
