Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Executive president and former Chief Minister, Hemant Soren on Sunday visited Hazaribag under his ‘Badlao Yatra’ and attacked the Governments in State and Centre for their recent policies. Soren said that the Government was terrorizing people through various means, and the new Motor Vehicles Act was only one of them.
Soren launched his ‘Badlao Yatra’ on August 26 from Sahebganj in a bid to convey his message before State Assembly Elections. He has been addressing public meetings in all districts across the State through the ‘Yatra’. On Sunday, he reached his fifth destination.
Coming down heavily on the Government, Soren said that the Government has “terorrised” people through various ways like demonetization and Goods and Services Tax. And now it is terorrising people through traffic chalans, he added. “People of the State are living in fear of the recently amended traffic rules. How do they (Government) expect the poor people of the country to pay such hefty penalties? They only need money by hook or crook,” said Soren. Addressing a public gathering in Hazaribag, Soren said that Konar Irrigation Project of the area, which took 42 long years to be commissioned, could not last for even 24 hours after its inauguration. “The project is very important for the people of this area and the government was patting its back for launching the project.
But the reality came before people within hours. Raghubar Das inaugurated the project in haste before completion of the work. Similarly, several inauguration programmes are going on to attract attention of people just before the State Assembly Elections,” said Soren. “The Prime Minister had promised that he will provide jobs to two crore people but instead of providing job the companies are retrenching employees,” he added. The former Chief Minister said that if voted to power in the State, he will form a ‘Kisan Bank’ so that the farmers can get facility of easy credit.
Speaking on the local issue of Hazaribag, Soren said that BJP Government forcefully acquired land of farmers for its capitalist friends without framing a proper displacement policy. “A large number of people got displaced by various coal mines and electricity factories. Instead of rehabilitating them, the Government made their lives even more miserable.
The victims of displacement are living life like nomadic people. If JMM is voted to power, then it will give priority to rehabilitation policy in the State and the families displaced in the past will also be rehabilitated,” he added. Veteran party leader and Dumri MLA Jagarnath Mahto was also present on the occasion.
