Under ‘Suraji Gaon’ scheme Narva, Garva, Ghurva and Badi (NGGB) state government is promoting establishment of biogas units all over the state.
Chhattisgarh Renewable Energy Development Authority (CREDA) working on the mission has taken up the target of establishing 5130 biogas units in Dhamtari districts. Thirty eight among them in earmarked villages have been already completed and efforts are on at war-footing level to complete the rest.
According to assistant engineer CREDA T.R. Dhruv efforts are also on for construction of biogas units at the residences of beneficiaries and units of two to four cubic meter are being promoted by the CREDA. This work is being undertaken under the New National Biogas Plant and Manure Management programme.
Cow dung, the raw material for the units is available in ample quantity in rural areas which will be used in biogas plants to produce safe and cheap fuel.
The establishment of these biogas units will generate fuel for cooking and lighting and will also produce manure.
