Govt proposes fixed deposit scheme for divyang students

Now, the differently-abled parents living in Delhi will sit relaxed as the Delhi Government will take their responsibility for their daughters from 2019-20. Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday said that the Government will provide financial help to the girls in their marriage.

The Government has also proposed a fixed deposit scheme for physically challenged students, among a slew of initiatives for the social security and welfare sector. Am outlay of Rs3,429 crore has been allocated to the Social Welfare sector for the implementation of various social security and welfare programmes, schemes and projects.

“The fixed deposit scheme will help the physically challenged students at each stage of their educational attainment on the pattern of the Ladli scheme. Also, scholarships will be given to the students belong to schedule caste students for pursuing higher studies for which Rs5 crore has been proposed,” said Sisodia in his budget speech. 

Announcing Rs1,382 crore under the Scheduled Caste sub-plan in 2019-20, the minister said, remedial coaching will be provided to scheduled caste (SC), scheduled  tribe (ST) and other backward classes students in Class 6 to 10 of  Government schools under the new Ambedkar Pathshala scheme.

“I also propose to construct a new building at the Sewa Sadan Complex  at Lampur, Delhi to decongest the Asha Kiran Complex,”he said. The Delhi government also proposed an initiative to facilitate mobility of students with locomotor disabilities.

These students will be given incentives and concessions in the form of a discount on the price of scooters and motorised tricycles designed to suit their needs.
