Grand Road declared ‘no driving’ area

Thursday, 18 July 2019 | PNS | PURI

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has declared the Grand Road (Bada Danda) from the Shreeandir to the Gajapati Maharaja Palace here as a ‘no driving’ zone for smooth traffic flow on the road.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the SJTA held on Tuesday. Following the decision, the district administration evicted some shops on the road. On Wednesday, the vehicles were not allowed to move forward from the Dola Bedi area of the road. As per the decision, no vehicle can be parked near the Dola Bedi and around the Shreemandir. Besides, the area has also been declared as a ‘no-begging’ zone.
