Sunday, 27 October 2019 | PNS | Haridwar

While travelling through the Municipal Corporation area of Haridwar these days, one may find beautifully coloured walls. These wall paintings which look like three dimensional wallpapers to a cursory eye are being painted by a group of youngsters. This art group named Kadam Fine Arts is being led by Amit Kumar, who is a very talented artist having good experience in wall painting, canvas painting and street painting.

The other artists of the unique team are Kajal,  Bhawna, Prashant and Jyoti who are helping Amit Kumar in converting rough, mundane and in many cases dilapidated walls lining the streets of Haridwar, into a pleasant site for everyone who travels through the city.

The Kadam Fine Arts got a major opportunity to showcase its talent during the Prayagraj Kumbh of 2018. The members of the group worked very hard and the Kumbh administration was impressed by their work.

The authorities had allowed them to showcase their talent in approximately 2 lakh square feet area.

Amit kumar told The Pioneer that it is a privilege for his team to showcase their talent on the walls of city in the Haridwar mahakumbh area. He added that his team would work hard to justify the opportunity provided to it.

The Kumbh Mela officer,  Deepak Rawat said that when  he got to know about this group, he requested it to start painting the walls in some areas of Haridwar.

He further added that as soon as he came to know about the work done by this group, he became confidant that their creativity can enhance the beauty and aesthetic appeal of Haridwar.

As the group is new to Haridwar, Rawat made it sure that its creativity and talent is exhibited on a major scale. The creative

work will undoubtedly add more colours to Haridwar’s spirituality and purity, he opined.

The leader of the group Amit Kumar has an experience of around ten years in wall painting. He grew up watching his father, Sher Singh, who himself is an artist, creating an output with colours which was pleasing to everyone's eyes.

Amit Kumar completed his master degree in fine arts from Raja Man Singh Tomar University.

His team members also hold Masters degree in fine arts which, Amit Kumar believes is an advantage for his team and makes the members stand apart from other such artists in this domain.

He further added that his team members are an alumni of reputed colleges such as Lalita Kala Academy Delhi, Raja Man Singh Tomar university and Jamia Milia Islamia to name a few.

He further stated that the members of his team are interested in pursuing a doctorate degree in fine arts which will bring more laurels for the art group.
