The three-day Governor's Cup Golf Tournament-2019 organised by Raj Bhawan Golf Club, Nainital ended on Sunday. The Governor/ chairperson of Raj Bhawan Golf Club, Nainital, Baby Rani Maurya distributed the prizes to winners at Ball Room of Raj Bhawan. Prem Singh was announced over all winner/champion and Dinesh Panwar was declared the runner up of the 17th Golf Tournament.
Wing commander (retd) HS Bedi won the super veteran trophy and MC Nigam became the super veteran runner up. Saint Joseph’s College, Nainital, was winner in boys category with Sainik School Ghorakhal as runner up in boys category of Inter School Governors Cup Tournament 2019. In the girls category Mohan Lal Shah, Bal Vidya Mandir, Nainital, and Amtuls Public School Nainital were declared winner and runner up respectively. Colonel Atul Shah was the best net winner while SA Nakvi was the best net runner up.
In the women’s category Asma Mansoor was the winner while Ritik Mishra won in the under 15-18 age group category.
Pratham Sawant was declared winner in the under 12-15 age group while Vivan Agarwal was declared winner under 12 year old age group.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the governor said that efforts have been taken to connect the common people with Raj Bhawan Golf Course. It is also being provided for school children with an inter school competition being held here twice a year. Maurya expressed happiness over the fact that girls too are taking interest in golf. She said that golf helps in the personality development of youth. It improves mental strength along with physical capacity. The governor said that golf players and their families who came from various parts of the country are real brand ambassadors for tourism in Uttarakhand.
