The Central Government has put the Gwalior Air Force Station, along with the Agra Air Force Station, on high alert. This has been done due to the security concerns in the aftermath of the developments in the Kashmir Valley.
The Air Force personnel and the civilian police have been directed to stay alert in both the air bases as well as on the Agra Bombay Road that connects Agra to Gwalior.
It has been learnt from reliable sources that the Air Force School as well as the Central School, situated near the AF Station at Maharajapura will remain closed till the situation improves. The parents of the students have been advised not to send their wards to the schools till they get a notification from the school authorities.
Speaking to the media persons, Ravi Bhadouria, CSP, Maharajapura said that security has been stepped up in and around the AF Station and on AB Road after the inputs from the Intelligence Agencies about the possibility of terrorist attacks. He added that the entire police force of Maharajapura and the adjourning Morena are on high alert and that all vehicles passing through the AB Road are being checked. Six teams, each under a CSP or an SDOP are providing round the clock security to the station and its surroundings.
It has also been learnt that the Kashmiri students staying in the city are under the scanner of the police and the agencies.
However, the higher officials of the Air Force and the police have said that the alert is a routine event and that the AF Station and the surroundings have adequate measures to thwart any threat. They also said that all intelligence inputs from various agencies are taken with the utmost seriousness and hence the tight security in and around the AF Station.
