With the objective of improving water management, conserving water through technology and improving agriculture, the Gwalior District Administration has launched the Water Conservation Project in the district.
In this connection, collector Anurag Chaudhary, accompanied by Zilla Panchyat CEO, Shivam Varma, Smart City CEO Mahip Tejaswi and other officials visited various places in the district and gave instructions to take appropriate steps to tackle water scarcity, which includes water harvesting and recharging wells among other things.
He asked the officials to put up sign boards during the recharging of wells and also to educate the locals to keep the wells clean.
The collector also reviewed the proposed steps in the drinking water and sanitation sectors, especially the Administration’s and civic body’s preparedness to conserve rainwater during the forthcoming monsoon season. He asked the officials to educate people, especially those in the rural areas to save water. He further said that agriculture consumes more water, so there is a strong need to involve farmers in the water conservation projects.
The officials visited the Check Dam, situated at the Besali river and reviewed the construction work in progress. The construction of the dam, at a cost of about Rs 15 Lakhs is in the final stages. The collector instructed the engineers to finish the construction work in twenty days and submit a report with pictorial evidence of the completion.
Later, the District Collector along with officials visited the Lady’s Park developed by the Smart City Project and opined that a beautiful and purposeful park has been developed and instructed the officials to take all possible steps to maintain
it properly.
