Describing clean water as a universal need, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal on Tuesday exhorted the people to take pledge to keep the rivers, ponds and other water bodies clean so that we could give a better future to our future generations.
Manohar Lal was addressing the devotees at the Parmarth Niketan Shivar of Swami Chidanand Maharaj at Arail in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh after going around the model of clean drinking water.
A statement issued here said that on this occasion, he also performed ‘Jalabhikshk’ on the globe model set up at the shivar with a vision to have clean water in the world. He also watched a documentary film on developing houses by using agriboard of straw.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government is taking several steps towards ensuring clean drinking water supply and also has set up a separate authority for the rejuvenation of ponds in the state.
The Central Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started Namami Gange project to accomplish the twin objectives of effective abatement of pollution, conservation as well as rejuvenation of river Ganga.
The Haryana Government too is working towards the cleanliness of river Yamuna passing through the State, he added.
Later, the Chief Minister visited Panchayati Akhara, Bada Udasin Nivaran where he was accorded warm welcome by Mahant Maheshwar Das.
Maheshwar Das appreciated the Haryana Government for its efforts to take the Gita Jayanti at international level. The Chief Minister also took blessings of the saints present in the shivar.
