HDFC bank plantation drive kicks off

The HDFC Bank will plant 25,000 saplings in 14 districts affected by cyclone Fani, said  Zonal Head, Odisha, HDFC Bank, Rajesh Srivastava.

Speaking on the launching ceremony of the massive green initiative, Srivastava said that the bank has launched ‘My Green Legacy’, a tree plantation drive to generate awareness on afforestation post Fani.

Chief guest Chief Secretary AP Padhi and Srivastava kickstarted the drive on August 18.

Principal Secretary Finance, Ashok Kumar Meena, Special Relief Commissioner Bishnupada Sethi, PCCF Sandeep Tripathi, BMC Commissioner and BDA Vice Chairman Prem Chandra Chaudhary and other senior officers of the State Government and HDFC Bank were present.

Chief Secretary Padhi said that the State Government has planned to plant 5 lakh saplings in the cyclone devastated zones.

Padhi said the Department of Forest and Environment has chalked out plans for a massive plantation programme.

It has been decided that over 25,000 saplings will be planted throughout the month of August in 38 cities and villages of the 14 cyclone affected districts, said Srivastava.

Recently, the bank had adopted 20 schools and donated Rs 10 crore for the rehabilitation process under its Parivartan initiative.

Srivastava said the HDFC Bank also works to raise customer awareness on environmental sustainability.
