Health Dept to begin Intensive anti-diarrhoea campaign

In the wake of upcoming monsoon season Health department will run intensive anti-diarrhoea campaign fortnight from May 28 to June 8 in the State. Director in Chief, Health Department Rajendra Paswan said here on Friday that the people of the State will be made aware about the possible dangers of the disease and the ways to treat it during the fortnight.

He said that there is a continuous fall in the mortality rate of children below five years since 2011, even then the number is high. As per statistics 10 per cent children below the age of five years still die in the State due to diarrhoea, he added.

Medical Officer Ajit gave special information about various activities in fortnight through a presentation. He said that under intensive diarrhoea control fortnight, 39,964 Sahiya sisters will visit door to door and pack the ORS and will give the people the method to make this solution. In this work, 5,638 ANMs will also be deputed. During this fortnight, children who are found to be suffering from diarrhea, will be given ORS along with zinc tablets for 14 days and parents will also be provided information about breastfeeding and eating habits after the child’s recovery.

A goal of making 4,176 Zinc Corners is set in this fortnight. People can get information at these centres and at the same time they can be treated at the right time. Ajit said that awareness programmes in schools will also be organized during the fortnight. Under this, hand washing activities will be organised and students will be made aware of the availability of clean drinking water and cleanliness
