Heavy snow/rain likely in some places of U’khand  on January 12

The State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow alert, forecasting heavy snow and rainfall at isolated places of the State on January 12. The isolated places where rain/snow spell might occur include those in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Tehri, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh aside from the hills of Dehradun district. Dry climate is likely to prevail in the rest of the State.

Giving more information, the officials of the State Meteorological Centre said, “There is a possibility of good rainfall in many areas of the State, including Dehradun, on Friday and Saturday. Snowfall is likely occur at some isolated places across the State on January 12.”

The sky in Dehradun city is likely to be mainly cloudy on Friday while mist might form during the morning hours. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely settle at around 21 degree Celsius and 7 degree Celsius in the city respectively on the day. 

The temperatures recorded in some towns of the State on Thursday was 22.2 degree Celsius and 5.6 degree Celsius in Dehradun, 22.0 degree Celsius and 2.9 degree Celsius in Pantnagar, 11.7 degree Celsius and 1.1 degree Celsius in Mukteshwar and 13.0 degree Celsius and 3.0 degree Celsius in New Tehri respectively.
