The Uttar Pradesh government has made wearing of helmet mandatory for two-wheeler riders on Agra-Lucknow Expressway.
A directive in this regard was issued by the Chief Executive Officer of UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) Awanish Awasthi on Monday.
“No two-wheeler rider will be allowed to enter Agra-Lucknow Expressway without wearing a helmet. The order would be implemented strictly,” Awasthi said in a written statement here.
He said the UPEIDA was committed to ensuring a safe and pleasant journey to commuters on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. “The order for using helmets is a step in this direction,” the CEO said.
The directive was issued after two youths riding a motorcycle died when their two-wheeler rammed into the rear of a parked bus on Sunday night. The motorcycle rider and the youth on the pillion were not wearing helmets.
