Home Dept issues instructions to make necessary preparations ahead of rainy season

 In order to tackle probable flood situation in the ensuing monsoon, the Home Department has issued instructions to all district collectors and Chairmen District Disaster Management Authority to make necessary preparations for proper management.

District Disaster Management Authorities have been asked to substantiate risk analysis of flood prone areas and identify the sensitive class, disabled etc, to chalk out a plan to provide assistance to them in the event of floods at the local level. Incident Response Team and Disaster Management Committees should be formed. Relief camps should be prepared for relief and rescue operations.

Nodal departments and nodal officers have been told to issue all the necessary instructions. They have been told to update the lists of essential human resources and equipments related to flood management. Also, they have been told to organize flood public awareness programmes, training of rescue workers and mock drills before June 15.

The format of the Flood Standard Operating Procedure is available in www.mpsdma.mp.gov.in. According to the check list, the departments have been directed to complete the pre-preparations in the prescribed period. They have been told to make concrete arrangements to obtain forecast of floods and issuing warnings / alerts too. Shifting and post care of the sensitive class including disabled, old, sick, pregnant women and children to safer places first will be ensured.
