On the occasion of the observance of the PCS Day here by the ICSI Bhubaneswar chapter, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), Cuttack and Kolkata Bench, member Justice MV Gosavi said that the profession of Company Secretaries is regarded with respect and trusted by the Government, regulatory authorities, shareholders and other stakeholders today.
It is a matter of pride, to be a part of what the profession of Company Secretaries attained way back in 1988, the first recognition for Company Secretaries in practice. Each day is bringing newer opportunities and challenges and with extremely heightened expectations from this brigade of professionals in general and the practising members in particulars, said Gosavi. Further he said that the presentations made before the NCLT bench by the Company Secretaries are highly commendable.
SS Mishra, Chairman of the Chapter said that June 15, 1988 marked the beginning of an era for the Institute of Company Secretaries of India as well as its members when the Company Secretaries in practice were accorded recognition for certifying the Annual Returns under the erstwhile Companies Act, 1956.
Priyadarshi Nayak, Vice-Chairman, EIRC, RK Kar, Vice-Chairman and CS Jyotirmoy Mishra, Secretary of the Chapter also spoke on the occasion.
A session on ‘Cyber Law’ was held wherein advocate Animesh Singh among others addressed. Past Chairmen and members of the Chapter attended.
