Close on the heels of Chief Minister’s tirade against the Centre over the paddy issue, now Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee chief Mohan Markam has threatened the Union government of an economic blockade if it doesn’t grant permission to the state government to procure paddy at Rs 2500 MSP.
Markam in a meeting of Chhattisgarh Farmers Congress, held here at party’s state headquarters on Wednesday threatened the union government of even going for an economic blockade if needed. “We will fight for the interest of state farmers and will not tolerate the discrimination being done by the BJP government at Centre,” he said.
“When Prime Minister Narendra Modi is interested on our coal and other minerals then why there is a taboo on paddy”, he questioned.
Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik commenting on the statement of Markam said there should be cordial relationship between the state and the Centre and the PCC chief should not create anarchy. “When the Congress had promised of procuring paddy at Rs 2500 MSP it had not consulted the Centre. Why it was now seeking assistance from the Prime Minister and the Union government”, he added.
