The Entrepreneurship Cell (E- Cell) of IIT Kharagpur, is organising Empresario 2020, an annual business model competition searching for innovative and enterprising ideas. The competition is being organised in association with the Indian Business Model Competition (IBMC) and is co- hosted by Stanford, Harward and Brigham University. Empresario20 is aimed to provide a platform for students to interact with mentors from various backgrounds and also showcase their ideas to venture capitalists, angel investors and industry leaders.
Business ideas like product and service, product design and social categories are accepted in the event while services like legal advice, taxation, financial and technical aspects of a start up, co- working space, HR needs and incubation opportunities among others are provided.
“The students will register for the competition on the basis of their start- ups. Based on their startup idea and plan, selection is done for the consecutive rounds. The semi- finals will be held in December and the finals will take place in February in Kolkata. The prize money for the competition is Rs 35 lakh which includes the winner as well as the first and second runner up,” said Hritik Mehta,Associate Member, E-Cell IIT Kharagpur.
