Illegally transported wooden logs recovered from Lalghati locality’

The flying squad of Forest Division Bhopal and District Wildlife Warden Bhopal on Friday night recovered illegally transported wooden logs in a truck from nearly Lalghati locality.

The truck was coming from Ashta to deliver logs in Mandideep. The Flying Squad team has now registered a case for illegal transportation of wooden logs and seized the truck and started further investigation.

Bhopal Forest Division’s Flying Squad In-charge RK Chaturvedi told that Asif Hasan, District Wildlife Warden, Bhopal, got information late last night that a truck with a registration number MP07 GA 2744 had left for Mandideep from Ashta after loading the wooden logs illegally.

Promptly acting on the information, Asif Hasan and Flying Squad team reached the Lalghati area. After searching of several vehicles, the forest team found a truck bearing registration number MP 07 GA 2744 coming from Sehore side, near Halaalpura bus stand. It was stopped after chasing at around 1.30 pm. A Santro car was also following the truck.

When the truck was stopped and searched, about 25 quintals of wooden logs were recovered. During interrogation, truck driver Ashraf Ali of Jinsi area Bhopal and three people driving in Santro car, it was found that the truck was registered in the name of Rajendra Singh, who was in the car. This truck was trying to go to a factory located in Mandideep (district Raisen) to deliver logs loaded from Ashta district, Sehore.

Forest officials said that Ashraf Ali, one of the three persons in Santro car, started misbehaving with Flying Squad Team in-charge RK Chaturvedi and Forester Mehboob Khan and also threatened them of their suspension.
