Illicit liquor seized, 3 held in Giridih

A police team intercepted a Bolero jeep in front of Pirtand police station in Giridih district and seized 25 cartoons of illicit foreign made liquor on Sunday morning. Three persons namely Raju Mahto, Ajay Yadav and Md Firoj Ansari were taken into custody in this connection, said SDPO of Dumari Niraj Kumar.

The Pirtand police have registered a case against the accused and investigating the case behind the illegal wine business. According to the SDPO, within the sudden anti crime checking raids panic seems to have spread among some of the illegal traders in the locality. Kumar said he has made his intensions very clear to all the officers-in-Charge of all police stations within Dumari sub division of the Giridih that he will not allow illegal wine business and his movement against illegal business of wine in Giridih will continue unabated.

The operation was conducted on the directives of the superintendent of police Surendra Kumar Jha to check of illegal wine business including, buying and stocking, in various parts within the jurisdictions of different police stations of Giridih. The jeep was coming from Singh more Ranchi and was on way to Deoghar via Pirtard and was being transported to Bihar.
