13 Hry officers selected for Prez’s  medal

Chandigarh:  As many as 13 Haryana police officers have been selected for the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service and Police Medal for meritorious service on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26. Gurmeet Singh, Inspector, Karnal has been awarded with the President’s Police Medal for distinguished service whereas 12 others would receive Police Medal for meritorious service.

Hry CM to unfurl National Flag at Bhiwani

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal will unfurl the National Flag on the occasion of 70th Republic Day celebrations at Bhim Sports Complex, Bhiwani on Saturday. On the occasion, he would also honour freedom fighters and war widows. The Chief Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of over 12 projects to the tune of crores of rupees in district Bhiwani, after the celebrations of Republic Day from Bhim Sports Complex, said a spokesman.

CM presides over 49th Statehood day

Shimla: Presiding over 49th Statehood day function at Kunihar in Solan district, Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur announced opening of HRTC Sub Deport at Arki and upgradation of Police Post Kunihar to Police Station.  He announced that the Government Senior Secondary School for Boys Kunihar would be made Atal Adarsh Vidya Kendra. He also announced Rs. 20 lakh for the ground of Government Senior Secondary School Kunihar.

DC issues directions on Jind bypoll

Chandigarh: Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Jind, Amit Khatri has issued directions for the conduct of bye-elections in a free and fair manner and to keep liquor shops closed on the occasion of Republic Day on January 26, in district Jind. The day has been declared Dry Day in the district. The bypoll would be held on January 28. To conduct the elections in a free and fair manner, directions have been issued to keep the shops closed for 48 hours before the election, the DC said.

YMCA introduces ‘Cleanest Hostel Room’

Chandigarh: With the view to inculcate the sense of cleanliness in students, the J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad has introduced cash award for ‘Cleanest Hostel Room’ for students residing in the University hostels.  The first of its kind cash awards of Rs 10,000, Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 for first three positions, respectively, were presented to the students by the Vice Chancellor in a function organised in hostel premises.

Tandarust Punjab: Full Marathon on Mar 31

Chandigarh: Punjab Department of Sports and Daily World, India’s first international newspaper from Chandigarh, have teamed up to organise an international standards chip-timed full marathon run on March 31. While the main state-level event comprising 42-km (full marathon), 21-km (half marathon), 10-km and 5-km open fun runs will be held in Mohali, similar 5-km events will be simultaneously held in all districts across the state on the same day. The theme of the event is “Energising the youth for a Tandrust Punjab”.

National Award for Ferozepur

Chandigarh: Punjab Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister, Aruna Chaudhary extended congratulations to the District Administration, Ferozepur on the occasion of district bagging the National Award for considerably improving the sex ratio under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ camapaign.  Chaudhary said, during the year 2015-16 there were 859 girls after 1000 boys which has now seen improvement in 2017-18 to 916 girls after 1000 boys and this positive trend is laudable.

National Voter's Day celebrated

Chandigarh: In order to celebrate National Voter's Day, Homoeopathic Medical College & Hospital, Sector – 26 here organized quiz contest, poster making competition and Essay VVriting Competition in college premises on Friday. The aim of this event was to educate the youth about their right to vote, motivate them to vote every time elections are being held. Theme for 9th National Voter's day was no voter to be left behind.
