Married couple found hanging from tree

Angul: Bodies of a married couple were found hanging from a tree at Kumarigaon village under the Purunakote police limits in Angul district on Sunday. The deceased were identified as Madhu Sahu (30) of Dalasingha village and Shantilata Pradhan (27) of Kothabhuin village. A scooter was found near the bodies. Though the reason behind the deaths was yet to be ascertained, it was suspected that the two committed suicide. Police started investigation into the incident.

Man commits suicide at in-laws’ house

Baleswar: Three years after his marriage, a youth allegedly committed suicide at his in-laws’ house at Mendagadia village in Mahumuhan panchayat in Baleswar district on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Sudam Sahu, a resident of Muleswar village in Soro tehsil. Sudam had been staying at his in-laws’ house for the past 15 days. He ended his life by consuming poison, the family said. However, the reason of his taking the extreme step was yet to be ascertained. Police sent his body for postmortem ad began an investigation into the incident.

Couple killed in lightning in Bargarh

Bargarh: A couple was killed in a lightning at Bisipali village under the Padampur police station in Bargarh district late on Saturday night. Kailash Bariha and his wife Kishori were sleeping in their kutcha house when the lightning struck the hut killing the two on the spot. The house also caught fire in the lightning strike. Neighbours doused the flames and recovered the bodies. A pall of gloom descended on the village after the death of the couple.

Brahmapur: The summer dance training camp organised by the Woh Dance Studio here concluded on Saturday. Former MLA Dr Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, present MLA Bikram Kumar Panda, former Corporator R Murali Mohan, Mukunda Gauda, SA Khallil, lawyer Sanjit Panigrahi and scribe Sudeep Sahu attended as guests. Woh Dance Studio head Ganesh Mistri coordinated the programme.

Boy drowns in pond in Mayurbhanj

Baripada: Shivasundar Mohanta, a 13-year-old boy, drowned while bathing in a pond near Bisoi in Mayurbhanj district on Saturday. A Class-VIII student, Shivasundar was good at his studies and well-behaved. The news of his death has sent shock waves among the students and the teachers in the area.
