Rabi marketing season-2019 creates history

Chandigarh: Punjab witnessed a bumper crop during the ongoing wheat procurement season which started officially from April 1, 2019. Total wheat arrivals or procurement, till date, during the current season have surpassed the total wheat arriving or procured in the State during the last 20 years. Although there is still a day more to go with procurement as the season officially ends on May 25, 2019, informed an official spokesman of Punjab Food and Civil Supplies Department. A total of 129.93 LMT wheat, which includes 128.38 LMT procurement by the state agencies and 1.55 LMT by private traders, has been procured in the State. More than Rs.20,013.81 crores payment has been released by the state procuring agencies till May 23, 2019.

VoLTE services inaugurated in by BSNL Punjab

Chandigarh: BSNL Punjab’s 4G VoLTE services was inaugurated by Chief General Manager Telecom, Punjab Telecom Circle, JC Menaria at Chandigarh. The service will benefit customers of Hoshiarpur, Bathinda, Ropar and Jalandhar where 4G services are already working. Menaria told that with the launch of 4G VoLTE service, BSNL customers can make voice calls along with browsing data. GM Mobile Ajay Kararha intimated that VoLTE services are being provisioned on compatible mobile handsets.

Criminal carrying Rs 50,000 reward arrested

Chandigarh: Crime Branch sleuths of Gurugram Police has arrested a notorious criminal, wanted in over half-a-dozen cases and carrying a reward of Rs 50,000 on his head, from Nuh district. Spokesperson said that arrested accused was identified as Irshad, a native of Salaka village in Nuh, and was wanted in cases of loot, attempt to murder, kidnapping and assault. During preliminary interrogation, it was revealed that accused was involved in six cases registered in police stations of Taoru and Alwar.

menstrual hygiene camp in Mohali

Mohali: Elante Mall on Friday organised an awareness programme for 100 girls residing in underprivileged society at Gur Asara Orphanage, Mohali, on the importance of maintaining good menstrual hygiene in a bid to enable them to reach their full potential. Promoting the ‘Janaushadhi Kendras’ initiative under the Pradhan Mantri Yojna, 6000 biodegradable sanitary pads were distributed from the orphanage in Mohali, sufficient for three months of usage per participant. Elante Mall collaborated with ‘Spend for a Cause’ to promote Project Triya, which has been working towards this initiative to help women and girls in any way possible to make their life easier during menstruation.
