Plantation drive by XISS
XISS organized the tree plantation drive, an AICTE intervention “One student One tree” here on Saturday.The students of Marketing Department actively participated in the programme along Harmu River Bed starting from the point nearest to Gurunanak School. The professors selected the vacant places near the Harmu river bed to plant saplings in a well-organised way. The students planted saplings, and fenced them and watered the plants. They had planted various types of plants some of them being Jacuranda (niligulmohar), Mountain Ebony, Rain tree and Jurul tree.
SAIL achievement
ED (RDCIS) Ajay Arora, inaugurated the in-house revamped Pilot Coke Oven of 250 Kg at the Coke Oven Laboratory of RDCIS, SAIL, Ranchi on Saturday. Hitherto this pilot coke oven was being revamped by the original British Supplier. This year a conscious decision was taken by RDCIS management to revamp it with all in house resources and skill sets. The entire bricks were manufactured in the laboratory at RDCIS with refractory materials from SAIL, Refractory Unit (SRU). The drawings etc. were reverse engineered by the Design & Engineering department. The Electrical department provided the required Power requirements and the Programmable Logic Controller interface. This in house effort led to a saving of sufficient foreign exchange, had it been done by other OEM. SK Das, General Manager (Coal, Coke & Environment) who led from the front was present along with other senior officials of RDCIS.
Alumni meet at XISS
Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi, conducted a meeting of the Alumni Association of XISS (AAXISS) at the college campus on Saturday. The apex members of all the chapters were present to discuss the road map of the alumni association and its future activities. The alumni along with the faculty members planted saplings around the campus and contributed for a noble cause. The welcome speech was delivered by Jasbir Khurana while the then Chairman of AAXISS, Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexius Ekka presided over the meeting. A token of appreciation was offered to the heads of alumni chapters by Rev. Fr. Dr. Alexius Ekka. The AAXISS members who were not present here, connected in the meeting through video conferencing and made their valuable presence. The meeting preceded as per the planned agenda after all the members introduced themselves.
