‘TEDxBITMesra’ third edition held

Ranchi: The third edition of TEDxBITMesra was organised on Sunday. The event took place in the GP Birla Auditorium and was graced by the presence of prominent faculty members of the institute. The first speaker, Pranjal Sinha took the center stage to give his views about the cacophony in the field of judiciary. He talked about the statistics related to the number of pending cases in India and the concept of Mediation which isn’t well known among the people. Next up was Aditya Vaibhav, who explained about the website TheTrickyScribe.com which is India’s first all powered digital magazine on environmental issues and their solutions. The third speaker, Shreya Shrivastava, spoke about the paradox of choices and how she explored different fields before making a career choice. Ajinkya Kolhe, the last speaker of the event talked about how mistakes that we make were useful in our lives if we could accept them and change.

Two held for raping minor

City police arrested two criminals on Sunday for allegedly raping a minor girl. The girl went on a stroll with her male friend, also a minor, to Firing Range Mountain near Bariatu on Saturday evening. As it got dark, two criminals approached them and took the two in their custody. The two raped the girl and then fled on a black motorcycle having the registration number JH01 CY 4935. A case was lodged at the Sadar police station regarding the same under section 376 d of IPC and section 4 and 6 of Prevention of Children against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act following which an investigation team comprising nine police officers was formed. The team nabbed the accused with 24 hours and recovered the said bike and two mobile phones from them.

Automobile workshop at BIT Mesra

Firebolt Racing, a prestigious automobile club of Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra conducted a two-day Basic Automobile and CAD Workshop. The workshop started on August 30 in Lecture Hall-1 where details about the layout of an automobile were discussed, followed by a brief explanation of Automobile parts. The second and last day of the workshop witnessed great enthusiasm from the students. Students were told about various topics such as solid works and a detailed explanation about the technicalities of an Automobile. A test was taken in the end, thus checking the grip of students on the topics taught.
