Gajapati ICDS gets 2nd best State-level award

Paralakhemundi: The Gajapati district ICDS has been adjudged as the 2nd best State-level performer of the child welfare development service and related programmes for 2018-2019. DSWO Kuntala Mallick received certificate and trophy from Women Development and Child Welfare Minister Prafulla Samal at a function held at Bhubaneswar on the occasion of the International Women’s Day on Thursday.

Akankshya observes Women’s Day

Paralakhemundi: Women organisation Akankshya celebrated the International Women’s Day at the Utkal Hiteisini Samaj here under the leadership of Meenakshi Sahu, Guru Kailash Chandra Patnaik and his group rendered the opening song. Sukanti Rani Padhi read out the secretary’s report. Chief speaker Bhagya Laxmi Nayak emphasised on a positive change women’s lifestyle. Chief guest Padmavati Upadhaya said respect to women is to respect to the creation. Organisation chief convenor Ashalata Panigrahi spoke on women’s democratic rights. Dr Kalyani Mishra, Lecturer, was honoured with Akanshya Prativa Samman. Treasurer Tanuja Satapathy coordinated the programme.

MCL celebrates Women’s Day

Sambalpur: The Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) celebrated the International Women’s Day with Women in Public Sector (WIPS) and Jagriti Mahila Mandal organising various events. Mahila Mandal president Anita Mishra was chief guest at a function held to honour women achievers. Large number of working women as well as homemakers participated in the events, which included cultural programme, discussion, healthcare and charity. Mahila Mandal vice-presidents Parmjit Kaur was prominent among the other participants.

Vedanta women body holds Women’s Day

Jharsuguda: The Vedanta Mahila Parishad here organised sports, blood donation and cultural programmes on the International Women’s Day. Six women were felicitated. While Rita Agarwal, Payal Patel and hockey player Mariana Kujur received prizes in the Swachhta Abhiyan, Rambhabati Kishan was honoured for agriculture, Basanti Kisan for serving destitute women and Samita Barike for international weightlifting. Vedanta Smelter Plant head GG Paul highlighted the positive steps taken by the management for women. HR head Sakti Bhel informed about engagement of 30% women in Vedanta in the next two to three years.

JSPL celebrates Jindal’s birthday as ‘Fitness Day’

Angul: The Jindal Steel & Power Ltd. (JSPL) celebrated its chairman Naveen Jindal’s birthday on Saturday as ‘Fitness Day’ with a series of programmes to raise awareness about physical wellness among people. The day started with a mini-marathon flagged of by JSPL COO Pankaj Gautam, followed by yoga and meditation training sessions by Swami Satyabinduj. A free super-speciality clinic with diet counselling was also conducted. In the JSPL Bhubaneswar Corporate office, employees took a pledge to follow Jindal’s fitness mantra.

 

Utkal Alumina celebrates Women’s Day

Bhubaneswar: Hundreds of women from the villages of Baphlimali Mines periphery celebrated the International Women’s Day at Jogiparitunda under Kashipur block. The programme was organised by the Utkal Alumina International. Many successful women entrepreneurs were felicitated. Local Tehsildar Soubhagya Behera applauded the efforts of Utkal Alumina for the event in this remote place.

Utkal Alumina joint president Mazharullah Beig said such event would be organised more often. Company VP BRK Padhi, GM (CSR) Dr Lopamudra Priyadarshini, DGM (CSR) SibaSankar Mahapatra and Sudha Krishna of Utkalina Club were present.
