Road safety summer camp for school children

Chandigarh: To raise the level of road safety amongst school children, Chandigarh Traffic Police is organising a Road Safety Summer Camp, free of cost, for the students of standards VII to XII at Children Traffic Park, Sector 23, Chandigarh, during the forthcoming summer vacations. During this camp, different types of interesting road safety awareness activities will be organized for school children. At the end of the Camp, the participating students would be given certificate of accomplishment by Chandigarh Traffic Police. The camp will be organized from May 27 onwards in five batches of 60 students each from 10 am to 1 pm each day for five days.

 DBT Ramalingaswami Fellowship for IIT Ropar prof

 Ropar: Dr Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Professor, Centre for Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Ropar, (IIT Ropar) has been awarded the Ramalingaswami Re-entry Fellowship by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology for a period of five years. This is one of the most prestigious fellowship awarded by DBT at Scientist-D/Assistant Professor level position. The fellowship aims to attract highly skilled Indian researchers working overseas in various cutting edge disciplines of biotechnology and other related areas.

NIIFT students present Final Degree Projects

Mohali: Students of MSc in Fashion Marketing and Management (FMM) as well as Garment Manufacturing Technology (GMT) of Northern India Institute of Fashion Technology, Mohali, presented their final Degree Projects in the campus. This year, a total of 12 research projects from FMM department and 10 projects from GMT department were presented. The research of students in FMM department focused on different areas like analysis of consumer preferences, while in GMT department, students undertook research in areas like inventory management analysis through forecasting techniques etc.

Awareness programme on menstrual hygiene

Panchkula: To enable women and girls to reach their full potential, an awareness programme to educate more than 300 underprivileged women in community centre near Nadha Sahib Gurudwara, Panchkula, on the importance of maintaining good menstrual hygiene. NGO ‘Spend for a Cause’, collaborated with Elante Mall to promote Project Triya, which has been working towards this initiative to help women and girls in any way possible to make their life easier during menstruation.

Rapido Bike kickstarts operations in Patiala

Patiala: Rapido Bike has launched its operations in Patiala not by conventional four-wheeler taxis but bikes. It is currently offering introductory rates of Rs 15 for 3 KM and aims to simplify commuting for citizens and enabling them to navigate the small roads and traffic snarls conveniently.
