EC lifts code of conduct
Chandigarh: The Election commission of India (ECI) has lifted the Model Code of Conduct, which was enforced from the date of announcement of election schedule of General Elections to House of the People (Lok Sabha), 2019 and State Legislative Assemblies of Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha and Sikkim, and certain bye-elections. In a written communication sent by the ECI to the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, Chief Secretaries and Chief Electoral Officers of all states and union territories, it was stated that now, that the result in respect of these elections has been declared, the Model Code of Conduct has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect.
Punjab CPI (M) expels 4 committee members
Chandigarh: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Punjab expelled four of its members from the core committee panel for their alleged engagement in “anti-party activities”. The secretariat of state committee, which met under the chairmanship of Gurchaten Singh Bassi, has decided to summarily expel Vijay Mishra and his votaries including Amarjit Matoo, Amrik Singh, and Thakur Dhian Singh because of the serious anti-party activity of this group, said the party secretary Sukhwinder Singh Sekhon on Sunday. The communiqué said that the secretariat had noted that Vijay Mishra had taken public positions criticising the party in the social media and promoting the interest of RMPI and eventually joining that outfit.
PU students met Tandon
Chandigarh: A delegation of students of Panjab University met BJP Chandigarh chief and Senator Sanjay Tandon at the University on Sunday to present him with a memorandum of their demands. Tandon was at the university to attend a senate meeting. Speaking about their demands, the student representatives said that students of the university are facing many difficulties which include problems with hostel facilities and fees but no one has ever given any attention to their problems or demands. Tandon assured the student representatives that he would look into all the issues and raise them in the senate meeting so that these issues are resolved at the earliest.
Shaurya blood donation camp held
Chandigarh: Lt. Gen. K J Singh (Retd.), PVSM, Ex-GOC-in-Chief, Western Command, led the Shaurya Bike Rally, which was part of the 6th‘Shaurya Blood Connect with Indian Army’ event. A blood donation camp also held after the rally, where 100 units of blood was collected, which will be used by the Command Hospital, Chandi Mandir. The event was organized by ‘I Am Still Human’ NGO in association with WSL Automobiles, Phase 7, Mohali, Oakridge International School and Fusion Seven Events. Last year, a similar event was held at India Gate, New Delhi. Lt. Gen. K.J Singh (Retd.) said, “It has been great to see the ‘I Am Still Human’ team working so passionately for and with Indian Army.”
Vini Mahajan, unveils Pumpkart’s B2B app
Mohali: Vini Mahajan, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries & Commerce), Punjab, unveiled the Pumpkart app at Software Technology Park of India(STPI) here. The ceremony took place in the presence of Pumpkart’s Co Founders’- K S Bhatia and Manish Saini. Renowned names from the world of business like Dr Dinesh Dua, CEO & Director, Nectar Life Sciences Ltd and Chairman, Pharmexcil were also present. “Pumpkart is celebrating its 5th anniversary, so we timed launch of the app with this. Our app is a B2B Ecommerce marketplace model dealing in the complete range of home appliances, kitchen appliances, electronic goods, electrical goods and industry supply,” said K S Bhatia, Co Founder, Pumpkart.
Dental camp held at Chandigarh Press Club.
Chandigarh: Oral Health Sciences Centre, PGIMER, in association with International College of Dentists, India, and Rotary Club, Chandigarh Central, organised a check-up and treatment dental camp at Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27. Over 100 members, including kids, got their dental check-up in the camp. Dr RP Gupta explained the role of prevention in dental diseases. He explained the role of fluoride and advocated the use of professionally applied topical fluoride in preventing dental caries. Dr. Sachin Rai addressed the burden of oral diseases and stressed about the need of maintaining proper oral health.
Around 60,000 candidates appears in CLAT-2019
Chandigarh: Around 60,000 candidates from all over the country appeared in Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) all across the country. The exam is being conducted by National Law University Odisha, Cuttack (NLUO) for the admission in 21 National Universities of Law in India. Prof. B.S Sidhu, Registrar, Aryans College of Law, Rajpura, near Chandigarh said that last year around 58,000 candidates appeared for the CLAT 2018. This year around 60,000 candidates appeared in CLAT exam. He said that near Chandigarh periphery, over 5000-6000 students applied for CLAT exam.
Kicko, uper Speedo come from Sun City to Elante
Chandigarh: Elante Mall in association with Sony Yay organised an event for kids within the mall where children got to interact with beloved animated characters Kicko, the 7-year old boy and his race car buddy, Super Speedo from Sony Yay’s hit show Kicko and Super Speedo on May 25 and 26. The two days event had children watching a 4 minutes episode of the series after which there was a Q&A contest for kids. The winners won official Sony Yay merchandise. The event also saw the exclusive theme of Kicko and Super Speedo sung by Badshah played in the mall.

Chandigarh: “Though women in India excelled in their talent but still underpaid and are deprived of being as leaders. DSP Mutual Fund launches Quant Fund
