PM Awas Yojana scam protested in Balangir

Balangir: Several villagers led by former Loisingha MLA Balgopal Mishra on Tuesday staged a sit-in strike at the Agalpur block office in Balangir district protesting against the irregularities in the distribution of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana benefits and demanded a Vigilance inquiry into the earth work done this year in the block.

Bargarh dist gets 3 new RI Circles

Bhubaneswar: The State Government has announced creation of three new Revenue Inspector (RI) Circles in Bargarh district. The new circles are Talpali, Guderipali and Dangbahal with headquarters at respective places. The Gaisilet RI circle has been reorganised with its headquarters at Gaisilet. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, while announcing a special package for the Bijepur Assembly constituency in the district recently, had promised creation of the three new RI Circles under Gaisilet tehsil

Vegetable vendor killed in road mishap in JSpur

Jagatsinghpur: In a road mishap at Tertanga on the Cuttack-Paradip highway, a vegetable trader, Sanatan Sahoo (30) hailing from Balipatana village under Tirtol block was killed on Sunday night. The deceased was returning home by his two-wheeler when a bus ran over him.

Two JSpur students excel in NEET med entrance

Jagatsinghpur: Two students from Jagatsinghpur have excelled in the all India medical NEET- 2019 examinations. They are Sthiteepragyan Padhi from Champeswar in Naugaon block who secured 558 marks enabling her admission in UG medical course and Subhasis Moharana from Parahata under Balikuda block who got 556 marks. A felicitation ceremony was organised by a private coaching centre to felicitate the duo. 

B’pur power lifter Ranjeet bags gold in Mumbai 

Brahmapur: Power lifter Ranjeeta Mishra of Gandhinagar here won gold medal in a district-level power lifting championship organised by the Indian Power Lifting Federation in Mumbai recently. She was honoured with the ‘Strong Women in Master’ award after she lifted 332 kg. People of Brahmapur, coach, her husband and two children have congratulated Ranjeeta for the success.

Vedanta employees contribute Rs 24.3L to CMRF 

Bhubaneswar: Employees of Vedanta’s Jharsuguda and Lanjigarh units have contributed Rs 24.3 lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF) to support the people affected by Cyclone Fani by contributing a day’s salary. Vedanta Aluminium and Power CEO Ajay Kapur said the company is still continuing with electrical restoration support in the affected areas and would continue to support the State Government in its efforts to restore normalcy.

Adani Foundation bags Kalinga CSR Award 

Bhubaneswar: The Adani Foundation bagged the Kalinga CSR Award for 2018 for its commendable work in the field of CSR. The award was given at the 4th national seminar on Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative 2019 organised by the Institute of Quality and Environment Management Services and the Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad here recently. Dhamra unit CSR head Satya Ranjan Mishra received the award.

GKEL gets Kalinga CSR Award

Bhubaneswar: The GMR Kamalanga Energy Limited (GKEL) bagged the Kalinga CSR Award-2018 in silver category for its best corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities for sustainable development. The award was given at the 4th national seminar organised by Institute of Quality and Environment Management Services in association with the Institute of Public Enterprises, Hyderabad. GMR Varalakshmi Foundation senior programme leader Dillip Kumar Kar and Corporate Relations AGM Ramesh Babu received the award from Germany Consul General Michael Feiner and Odisha State Productivity Council president Abarasa Beuria.
