Capt to inaugurate Drishti-2019 photo-exhibition

Chandigarh: On the eve of World Photography Day, Punjab Chief Minister capt Amariner Singh will inaugurate the TPAS Members’ fourth Annual Exhibition of Photographs — Drishti-2019 — organised by Tricity Photo Art Society (TPAS) at Government Museum and Art Gallery, Chandigarh, on August 16. TPAS is organizing photo exhibition continuously since 2015 every year on World Photography Day. This year, 60 displayed works of 36 members in the gallery will be a blend of work of national and international level photo-artists and new diploma students who have just started photography.

Punjab VB nabs 14 officials

Chandigarh: Punjab State Vigilance Bureau, during its ongoing crusade against corruption, has been able to nab 14 employees and one private person red handed while accepting bribes in 12 different trap cases during July, which includes four police personnel, three employees of revenue department and seven from other departments. Bureau’s Chief Director-cum-ADGP Vigilance Bureau said VB has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public servants and others in every sphere during the period.

One arrested under NDPS Act

Chandigarh: The Chandigarh Police has arrested one, identified as Atul of Dadu Majra Colony, and recovered 22 injections of drugs from his possession on Monday. A case under section 22 of the NDPS Act has been registered in Maloya police station. Investigation of the case is in progress.

UT to represent India at WorldSkills, Russia

Chandigarh: Gursheesh Singh and Sahil Kapil, from Chandigarh, have not only fulfilled their ambitions but are also inspiring the public of Chandigarh while making India proud by being a part of WorldSkills Kazan 2019. This year, a 48-member contingent will represent India at the biggest event for skill excellence globally, WorldSkills International Competition 2019. Also, referred as the ‘Olympics for Skills’, the event is scheduled in Kazan, Russia from August 22 till 27.

Anil Sharma is chief of ICAI’s Nort Region

Chandigarh: Anil Sharma, a practicing Cost Accountant and GST Consultant, has been elected unanimously the chairman to northern region of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India for the term 2019-20. Earlier, he was vice-chairman, and also served at the posts of secretary and treasurer.

Western Army reviews preparedness, security

Chandigarh: Lt Gen RP Singh,  who took over as Western Army Commander at the beginning of the month, made his maiden visit to the ‘Vajra Corps’ to review the current situation and operational preparedness. He was briefed by Lt Gen Arvind Dutta, GOC Vajra Corps. Earlier the Army Commander also visited the Rising Star Corps to assess the operational and security aspects.
