JSpur woman ganja peddler gets 2-yr jail term
Jagatsinghpur: The ADJ Court, Jagatsinghpur. after adjudicating a ganja peddling case, held a woman guilty and sentenced her to two years’ imprisonment, besides imposing a fine Rs 20,000 on her on Friday. The convict is Anita Das, from Krishnanandapur village under Tirtol area. She was arrested by district excise sleuths on July 10, 2018 allegedly possessing 1.5 kg of ganja.
Ganjam BJP observes Vajpayee death anniv
Brahmapur: The BJP Ganjam unit observed the death anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and paid him floral tributes here on Friday. BJP district president Kanhu Charan Pati presided over the programme. Pati said Vajpayee’s dream of scarping Article 370 relating to Jammu and Kashmir has now come true. Sunil Kumar Sahu, Pravat Sadangi, Prabir Patro, Sidhanta Gangadev, Amulya Choudhury, Namita Rani Panda, Subahshini Patnaik, Manoj Patnaik, Bijay Panda, Ashok Dash, Sura Padhy, Prangya Paramita Padhy, Kunja Bihari Panda and Pradeep Sahu also paid tributes to the departed leader.
Dhamra Port celebrates Independence Day
Dhamra: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated at Rangmanch Parade Ground of Dhamra Port premises here recently. Dhamra Port CEO Subrat Tripathy and DPCL Chief Safety Officer Commandant Sunil Thomas paid floral tributes to the martyrs. Tripathy unfurled the National Flag and shared valuable insights about the lives of the freedom fighters and their struggle for Mother India. He also stressed on how the freedom fighters’ ideals and vision have made countrymen strong and determined and said that this would inspire them in future also.

Paradip: The IFFCO Paradip Unit celebrated the 73rd Independence Day with great enthusiasm. Company officials, employees, union and association members, residents of township and DAV School students attended the ceremony.
