SPA named Institution of National Importance

New Delhi: Planning and Architecture (SPA) has been declared as the ‘Institution of  National Importance’ by Central Government on Thursday. The university has further marked its annual convocation programme where 11 PhDs and 349 graduates participated. About 224 are postgraduate and 125 are undergraduate received their degrees.

Water supply to be hit in parts of city

New Delhi: Water supply will be affected in parts of the national Capital on Saturday and Friday due to annual programme for flushing of underground reservoir and booster pumping station. The areas where supply would not be available or available at low pressure are Rohini (sector-20 to 25), Budh Vihar Phase-II, Mange Ram Park, Pooth Begam Pur and surrounding areas. 

119 challans issued against polluters

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday took strong action against violators of air pollution related norms. It issued 119 challans and imposed a fine of Rs 6,90,000 for burning of solid waste, garbage, dry leaves, and plastic, rubber and construction activities in all four zones after inspecting 1183 sites.

2 held for looting man at gunpoint

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested two friends for allegedly robbing a man of his belongings at gunpoint in northeast Delhi Khajuri Khas area. The incident took place on Monday night near Jama Masjid. The accused have been identified as Salman (22) and Afzal (22). According to Ved Prakash Surya, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), North East district, following the incident, a case of armed robbery was registered and all the pickets and patrolling team of the Khajuri Khas were alerted. “Salman was arrested and one country made pistol loaded with one live cartridge was recovered from him,” said the DCP.

33 villages declared as urban areas

New Delhi: Following the direction of the Centre, North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NMC) has declared 33 villages as urban area. Standing Committee Chairman Jai Prakash said under section 507 of Delhi Municipal Corporation act, 1957, these villages have been declared urban.
