HP CM pays tribute to Lala Lajpat Rai

Shimla: Himachal Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur paid floral tributes to the great freedom fighter Lala Lajpat Rai, popularly known as Punjab Kesari on his death anniversary by garlanding his statue at Scandal Point Shimla. He said, Lala Lajpat Rai was a heavyweight veteran leader of the Indian Nationalist Movement, Indian independence movement, who inspired young men of his generation and kindled latent spirit of patriotism in their hearts with journalistic writings and lead-by-example activism. He said that young men, such as Chandrasekhar Azad and Bhagat Singh, were driven to sacrifice their lives for the freedom of their Motherland following Lala Lajpat Rai’s example.

 

Over 69.73 lakh MT paddy arrived in Hry mandis

Chandigarh: More than 69.73 lakh metric tonnes (MT) of paddy has so far arrived in Haryana mandis (grain markets) as compared to over 67.92 lakh MT of paddy arrived during the corresponding period last year. A spokesman said, out of the total arrival of paddy, government agencies had so far procured over 63.79 lakh MT of paddy whereas the remaining quantity of over 5.93 lakh MT of paddy was procured by the millers and dealers. Over 34.71 lakh MT of paddy have been purchased by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, more than 19.75 lakh MT by Hafed, over 9.28 lakh MT have been purchased by the Haryana Warehousing Corporation and 4,718 MT have been purchased by the Food Corporation of India. Over 17.49 lakh MT paddy has arrived in mandis of Karnal followed by over 11.42 lakh MT in Kurukshetra and over 8.82 lakh MT in Ambala.

 

PSPCL to hold tournament

Patiala: PSPCL will organise 43rd All India Electricity Sports Control Board Powerlifting and Bodybuilding tournament at PSPCL Sports Complex near Railway Crossing 23 Patiala from November 18 to 19. RP Pandove Director Administration PSPCL will inaugurate the tournament while Er. Baldev Singh Sran, CMD PSPCL will preside over the closing ceremony and distribute the prizes to winners.

Er. Rakesh Kokria SE Technical PSPCL  and Director of the tournament disclosed around 10 teams from different states are going to participate in the tournament. PSPCL has made all arrangements for the comfortable stay of visiting teams, he added.

 

UT Police trained 1,700 in stress management

Chandigarh: The valedictory ceremony of workshop for Stress Relief and Wellness Focused Training Program for Chandigarh Police officers and officials was organized at Multi Media Centre, Recruit Training Centre Sector-26 on Sunday under the guidance of Sanjay Baniwal, DGP Chandigarh. A Memorandum of Undertaking (MOU) was executed between Chandigarh Police and Vyaktivikas Kendra India, Art of Living International Campus, 21st KM Kanakpura Road Bangalore to conduct three days programme on stress relief and wellness focused programme in 20 batches. Total 20 sessions have been conducted from June 28 to November 17 and the said programme was attended by 1700 police officials of Chandigarh Police.  The objective of the progamme was to offers the Police officers/ officials with the numerous, self-assessment kirya/meditation/pranayam and tools that facilitate the elimination of stress.

 

Panchkula to host Star Kabaddi League in Jan 2020

Chandigarh: Expressing concerns over mounting pollution in Delhi and capital region, organizers of Star Kabaddi League have shifted their staging from New Delhi to Panchkula which is scheduled for the second week of January 2020. Ashok Kumar Goyal, chairman, Star Kabaddi League said continuous pollution can prove fatal for the players, hence they have decided to shift their base. He said that after the successful season – 1 at Kaithal this year in April, organizers of Star Kabaddi League are pretty confident for another edition which will be participated by over 300 players across the 15 states. Likewise last edition; this year too, Haryana Heroes, Mumbai Lions, Punjab Tigers, Assam Rhinos, Delhi Regals, Bengal Bulls, Goa Eagles and Himachal Queens and a few more additions will lock horns against each other for Rs 21 lakh prize money.

 

HPSC finalises results

Chandigarh:  The Haryana Public Service Commission has finalized the result for the recruitment to the posts of HCS (Ex. Br.) from Register A-I of DROs and Tehsildars against the vacancies of the year 2019.  A spokesman said, on the basis of viva-voce interview held on September 4 in Commission’s office at Panchkula, the HPSC has finalized the result for the posts of HCS (Ex. Br.) from Register A-I of DROs / Tehsildars against the vacancies of 2019. He said that there were 23 posts in the General Category and 21 candidates have made it to the eligible list.  The result is available on Commission’s website http.//hpsc.gov.in

 

One day event on Centre for Humane AI

Chandigarh: The Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) under the aegis of IT Department of Chandigarh will host an event  Centre for Humane Artificial Intelligence (ChAI) @SPIC” on November 20. This event will be held at the EDC Building  located in  Chandigarh IT Park, Kishangarh. This event is being organized by SPIC in sync with the mandate of Niti Aayog to establish the National Program on Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a view to guide the research and development in new and emerging technologies.

The highlight of the event would be discussion and outcome of the Government of India policy on National Strategy on Artificial Intelligence titled  #AI for All as it is focused on leveraging AI for inclusive growth in line with the Government policy.
