Amazon Inks MoU with Punjab govt

Chandigarh: Amazon India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Punjab Small Industries &  Export Corporation Limited, Government of Punjab to conduct workshops to  enable MSME exporters to export their products and reach out to customers across over 180  countries through Amazon Global Selling Program. The MoU will help MSMEs the state to benefit through e-commerce. As part of the MoU, Amazon will conduct trainings and on-boarding workshops at key MSME clusters in Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Patiala and Bathinda to help MSME Exporters getting onboard Amazon’s international marketplaces.

Punjab Govt and Shoolini University tie up

Chandigarh: Government of Punjab and research-based Shoolini University agreed on Friday the establishment of an international standard research university in Punjab. Documents pertaining to the expression of interest were exchanged during the Progressive Punjab Investors’ summit between Punjab Technical Education and Secretary Employment Generation Rahul Tiwari and Shoolini University Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Atul Khosla.  Punjab had invited Shoolini University to set up a campus in the State keeping in view the highly successful research based focus of the University which has been an innovative path breaker in its field.

Punjab VB nabs FSO, driver for taking bribe

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Friday nabbed Food Safety Officer (FSO) and driver of Civil Surgeon Office, Barnala district, red handed while accepting Rs 20,000 as bribe. Besides, District Health officer (DHO) Raj Kumar has also been booked in the matter. Spokesperson said that FSO Abhinav Khosla and driver Jagpal Singh have been arrested on the complaint of Rishabh Jain of Barnala district. The complainant was running a confectionary shop at Sanghera village and the accused DHO, FSO and his driver were threatening him and demanding Rs 50,000 more for not submitting samples of confectionary items pertaining to his shop in the laboratory. He had already paid Rs. 50,000 to them three months back.

UT Adviser opens Chrysanthemums Show

Chandigarh: The three-day Chrysanthemum Show was inaugurated on Friday at Terraced Garden, Sector 33, by Adviser to UT Administrator Manoj Parida in presence of city Mayor Rajesh Kumar, Municipal Corporation Commissioner KK Yadav, among other senior officials. The show would be open till December 8 and is being organized by the Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh. Adviser also released a brochure dedicated to the show. This year, 269 varieties of Chrysanthemum, grown and well groomed at MC nursery, are being displayed.

Chandigarh: Haryana Governor Satyadeo Narain Arya on Friday appealed to the people of the State to make their contribution towards the welfare work related to the rehabilitation of war widows, disabled soldiers and needy ex-servicemen. Arya, speaking at an event organized occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day at Raj Bhawan, said that on this day, everyone should remember the scarifies of the brave soldiers of the armed forces for the country. He said that on the occasion of Armed Forces Flag Day, the State honors the martyrs and show solidarity towards the armed forces, express sensitivity towards war widows, disabled and needy ex-servicemen and further assure them that the whole country stands with them.

workshop on sexual harassment

Chandigarh: In an endeavor to ensure safe, secure and gender-neutral campus, Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36 B, Chandigarh, on Friday conducted a workshop on ‘Enhancing capacity in preventing sexual harassment at the workplace’, in association with National Alliance of Women’s Organisations (NAWO) at its premises. The session, supported by the British Deputy High Commission, assumes significance in light of a series of cases of sexual violence against women in the country.

Strawberry Fields tops amongst preschools

Chandigarh: Strawberry Fields, Sector 24B has topped among the preschools for youngest children in Chandigarh, as per the ninth annual city-wise survey conducted by EducationWorld in association with Delhi-based market research and opinion polls company Centre for Forecasting and Research Private Limited (C fore). The countrywide survey rated and ranked 662 preschools for youngest children in 16 cities this year. Among the top preschools (pre-primary schools) of 2019-20 in Chandigarh are Strawberry Fields, Sector 24B, FirstSteps School, Sector 26, Sunshine Meadows Playschool, Sector 35A, Euro Kids Pre School, Sector 37D, Sanawar Montessorie, Sector 11, and Kinderpillar Preschool, Sector 46A.
