Janmashtami celebrated at orphanage

Rotary Ranchi organised a grand celebration of Janmashtami, Independence Day and Raksha Bandhan on Sunday with the children of Karuna Shelter Home. The organisation distributed gifts, fruits and sweets among children. On the occasion, children of the orphanage sang songs and performed dance and acting. Chairperson of the club Aditya Malhotra said that all the children living here are like our family and we all love them.

College goers learn content writing

As many as 15 youngsters pursuing under graduation or post graduation from various colleges of State capital learned the art of content writing for poetry, blog and books at a two day workshop inaugurated by Women Who Write organization at Press Club on Saturday. It was activity based where participants prepared a blog and wrote poetry on social issues.

Health camp organised in Pesharar

Arogya foundation of India and National Medicos Organisation, Jharkhand organised Siddhu Kanhu Swasthya Sewa Yatra at Peshrar block of Lohardaga. Around 200 patients were treated in this camp and were given free medicines. The Doctors from Ranchi who examined patients included Dr AK Agarwal physician, Dr Dharmveer Dental Surgeon, Dr Dharmendra Physician and Dr Om Prakash Maxillofacial Surgeon. Also, many medical and dental students from RIMS, Ranchi contributed to this. The local organisers were Satish Jaiswal, Dhananjay Prasad Agarwal, Arvind Dubey, Naveen Patel, Veer Kunwar Singh, Uday Kunwar, Deepak Agarwal, Bihari Prasad and Umesh Kaskar.

Durga Puja committee meeting held

Ashok Purohit was made the new chairperson of Ranchi Zila Durga Puja Samiti on Sunday. A meeting of the committee was held at press club wherein new members of the committee were elected. Munchun Rai was elected for the post of coordinator while Vicky Yadav was made the executive president. Purohit said, on the occasion, that the organisers should ensure that the devotees do not face any problems during pandal hopping this Durga Puja.

Primary teachers to gherao CM residence

All Jharkhand Primary Teachers Association has threatened to ghearo the CM house with its 16 point demand on August 31. President of the association, Bijendra Choubey said that the indifference of the government towards problem of primary teachers has forced them to take such a drastic decision. Some of the major demands of the teachers including filling up of 3,296 vacant posts of principals, implementation of old pension, promoting commerce teachers, creation for the post of principal in upgraded middle schools among others.
