Biju remembered on death anniv

Bhubaneswar: Rich tributes were paid to former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik across the State on his 22nd death anniversary on Wednesday. Remembering the legendary politician, political leaders cutting across party lines paid tributes to Patnaik and recalled his contribution in building modern Odisha. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik paid homage to the freedom fighter, who was also his father. Stating that people of the State are always inspired by the ideologies of Bijubabu, Patnaik asserted that he is committed to serve the State.

Confer Bharat Ratna on Biju babu: U Sammilani 

Bhubaneswar: The Utkal Sammilani observed the 22nd death anniversary of legendary Biju Patnaik and paid floral tributes at his statue at the Biju Patnaik Park here on Wednesday. Sammilani Mancheswar branch president Dillip Dashsharma, presiding over the programme, demanded conferment of Bharat Ratna on Bijubabu. Sammilani Mancheswar branch VP Sital Chandra Mohanty, secretary Govind Chandra Subudhi, Shiv Prasad Mishra, Khetra Mohan Nayak, Maheswar Biswal, Akhaya Jethi, Siddhartha Sekhar Gadnayak and Niranjan Jena also paid tributes to Bijubabu.

Voting training camp for PwDs held in RD varsity

Bhubaneswar: A voting training camp for persons with disabilities (PwDs) was organised by the Khordha district administration at the Rama Devi Women’s University here on Wednesday. The election officer of Khordha spoke about the importance of casting votes and sensitised the PwD students about the new voting machines. The students were also given training through a demo machine. PG Council Chairman Dr Sarita Supkar encouraged the students to cast their votes in the elections.

Blood donation camp marks Odia New Year 

Bhubaneswar: The Nutan Jeevan Trust in association with the Commissionerate Police, Red Cross and ‘Blood Donors are Life Savers’ organised a blood donation camp here on the occasion of Odia New Year on Sunday. Padma Shri awardee D Prakash Rao, ACP Lalatendu Mohanty and Central Red Cross’ Dr Chandrika Prasad Dash also spoke. As many as 51 units of blood were collected. Red Cross life members Laxman Swain, Deepak Choudhury, Arun Das, Deepak Pradhan, Nutan Jeevan Trust members Pradyumn Bal, Rajesh Beura, Narayan Gauda, Munalal Agrawal and Niranjan Praharaj were present.

Sibani is Miss Traditional 

Bhubaneswar: Sibani Mishra was crowned as Miss Traditional in the Mumbai Inter-College Competition held recently. Representing Odisha, Mishra took attention of the judges by presenting Odisha’s culture, tradition and food in the truest way.
