Election Control Room opened in K’jhar

Champua: Keonjhar Collector-cum-Election Officer Ashish Thakre on Thursday inaugurated a Election Control Room in-charge and directed the officials to take prompt action on any complain related to election brought to their notice. The control room would remain open for 24 hours and can be contacted on 06766- 255495 and 06766- 255497. Thakre also requested the people to inform the control room immediately if there is any violation of the code of conduct.

‘Badakhana’ celebrated with underprivileged kids 

Champua: Keonjhar SP JN Pankaj celebrated the ‘Badakhana’ with unprivileged children here on April 1. As part of the police-public partnership the ‘Badakhana’ is an age old practice of organising different programmes in the police headquarters in which locals and mediapersons are invited to share the same with police personnel and their family members. But this year it was celebrated in a different way with the unprivileged.

Manav Seva Kendra opens at Puri 

Puri: A Manav Seva Kendra was inaugurated by the Puri Sub-Collector in presence of Puri Municipality Chairman Ramesh Satapathy, FEDO CEO Samarjeet Mohanty and NEPL MD DN Samal here on Wednesday.

Dahi Sarbat, cooked food and cold water and first-aid (in case of heatstroke) would be provided to pilgrims till May 31. The cooked food would be provided only on Sundays. Doctors and pharmacists would remain present in the kiosk.

Sports talents’ search held in Gajapati 

Paralakhemundi: A two-day district-level sports talents’ search was held at the Gajapati Stadium here on Tuesday and Wednesday. As many as 30 budding sportsmen were selected. They would take part in State-level sports meet. Different sports activities along with skill tests were conducted. Gajapati DSO Pravakar Panda informed that a total of 90 participants in the age group of 9-12 years joined and 30 were selected from among them.

MCL woman wing opens water kiosk at Burla 

Sambalpur: The Jagriti Mahila Mandal of the Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) opened a water kiosk at Burla link road connecting the National Highway on Thursday. Mandal president Anita Mishra, VPs Padamja Singh, Padmini Vasudevan, Paramjit Kaur and Madhoo Mishra and members distributed water and watermelons to travellers.
