Worker falls into concrete mixer, dies in B’swar

Baleswar: A labourer died after falling into a concrete mixer at Nuahat under the Soro police station on Wednesday. The deceased Shashikant Sahu of nearby Balikatirana village was engaged in road construction work under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The mishap occurred when he was charging the machine. Tension prevailed in the area as locals staged a road blockade.

Man, wife electrocuted in Kandhamal

Phulbani: A man and his wife were electrocuted while trying to pluck mangoes from a tree at Bandhagarh village in Kandhamal district on Wednesday. The deceased were identified as Dasharatha Bhukta and his wife Sarojini. The mishap occurred while the couple was plucking the fruits and were unmindful of the live electric wire passing through the tree. The couple was electrocuted when they came in contact with a 33-KV line.

Relief provided to Angarapada villagers 

Bhubaneswar: A team of Indian Red Cross Society and Rama Devi Women’s University under leadership of Society Secretary Major Dr Kalpana Dash and Vice-Chancellor Dr Padmaja Mishra distributed relief materials to needy villagers of Angarapada in Jatni. The team distributed tarpaulin, mosquito nets, dry foods, candle and match box and other items. Dr Bibhudendu Pati, Sushil Kumar Patnaik, Laxman Swain, Rina Barik, Sanjay Patra, Prasant Barik, MD Mustaffa,  Sashanka  Swain, Pravasini Behera, Soumyarani Jena, Lina Nandita Parida and Sandhya Rani Pradhan were present.
