RIMC wins Llewelyn inter-school debate

Nainital: The sixth Llewelyn inter-school national level debate final saw RIMC Dehradun defeating Vasant Valley school, Delhi to win the competition here on Friday. The Sherwood College principal Amandeep Sandhu said that this debate provides students from schools across India to test their skills. A total of 12 teams from schools in Nainital, Ghodakhal, Ajmer, Delhi, Mussoorie, Dehradun and Lucknow had participated in the debate competition this year.

Janmashtami celebrated in Doon Cambridge

Dehradun: Janmashtami was celebrated with enthusiasm at the Doon Cambridge school during the special assembly of students. Students of different classes donned the roles of lord Krishna and Gopis among other characters related to Janmashtami. The students also performed a dance on the life of Krishna, Dahi Handi performance, plays and fancy dress competition. Principal HK Chhabra reminded the students about lord Krishna’s virtues on the occasion.

Brooklyn School celebrates Janmashtami

Dehradun: Brooklyn School celebrated Janmashtami with various activities on Friday. The programme saw students delivering speech, reciting poetry, performing a dance and a Dahi Handi performance.  Principal Manju Grover, director Nitin Grover and vice principal Smriti Grover were present during the function.

FICCI FLO & Balaji Investment stress on financial empowerment of women

Dehradun: Balaji Investment and FICCI FLO, Uttarakhand organised a seminar aimed at financially empowering women. Krishna Kumar Sharma from HDFC discussed issues like finance and investment related to women. He said that every woman, whether working or not, should know about finance and investment. FICCI FLO Uttarakhand chapter head Nazia Yusuf Izzuddin said that even the women sitting at home today need to become financially empowered and know how to save and stay at home and take advantage of it in the long run. She said that FICCI FLO has always insisted on empowering women in every way. Balaji Investment managing director Shashank Jain also expressed his views on the occasion.

SEWS to seek Govt help in tackling slump

Dehradun: The SIIDCUL Entrepreneur Welfare Society (SEWS), Pantnagar held a meeting to discuss the various issues being faced by members of the industrial fraternity due to the slump currently being experienced in the industrial sector. The office bearers and members of SEWS decided that they would raise this issue with senior officials of the State government and seek financial and other assistance. An industry delegation led by SEWS executive would request some concrete steps to tackle the situation.
