Baramunda bus-stand service rd ‘no parking’ zone

Bhubaneswar: To reduce traffic congestion near the Baramunda terminal here, the Commissionerate police have declared the service road near the bus-stand as a ‘no parking’ zone. A fine of Rs 1,000 will be imposed on one who would violate the rule. A signage in this regard has been installed near the bus-stand. Earlier, buses used to halt on the portion of the service road and allow passengers to board the vehicles, which created traffic jam at the spot.

Kalinga Stadium to host Olympic qualifiers

Bhubaneswar: The Kalinga Stadium here will host yet another prestigious international sporting event as two matches of the FIH Hockey Olympic qualifiers are scheduled to be played at the venue on November 1 and 2. Indian men’s hockey team will take on Russia while the Indian eves will face USA during the two clashes. The qualifiers were determined by a draw held on Monday at the headquarters of the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in Lausanne, Switzerland. The winners of these qualifiers will qualify for the 2020 Olympic hockey tournament to be held in Tokyo, Japan.

All India People’s Forum remembers Ramesh Ali

Bhubaneswar: The All India People’s Forum (AIPF) held a condolence meeting for socialist leader and rationalist Ramesh Ali here recently. The meeting was presided over by Akhaya editor Amiya Pandav. Leftist leader Yudhisthir Mahapatra, Tushkant, former MLA and AIPF national coordinator Ramakant Sethi, Pratap Sahu, trade union leader Mahendra Parida, Prabhas Samantray, Ashok Das, Narendra Mohanty, Bansidhar Parida spoke about the contributions of Ali.
