RBI EXTENDS CCL LIMIT FOR PADDY PROCUREMENT
Chandigarh: Punjab would get cash credit limit (CCL) extension up to November 30, 2019, for the ongoing paddy procurement season, in which the State Government had made a record Rs 16,721.23 crores payment to the farmers till November 6. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has extended CCL of Rs 6,623.46 crores, till the end of November. With this, the sanctioned limit of Rs 26,707.50 crore for October 2019 has been enhanced to Rs 33,330.96 crores up to November 30, said an official spokesperson.
SC panel LAUDS UT Admn efforts
Chandigarh: A meeting of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety was held under the chairmanship of Justice KS Radhakrishnan (retired) to discuss additional directions of the said Committee pertaining to Road Safety in New Delhi. During the meeting, various measures of Road Safety issues were discussed. The Committee observed that Chandigarh Administration is working on sensitizing people about road safety measures besides promulgating steps to reduce the fatalities in road crashes by 21% as compared to previous year.
IIT Ropar’s convocation ceremony on Nov 8
Ropar: IIT Ropar will observe its eighth convocation on November 8, wherein AS Kiran Kumar would deliver the convocation address. Spokesperson said that Kumar has made immense contributions to the design and development of Electro-Optical Imaging Sensors for Airborne, Low Earth Orbit and Geostationary Orbit satellites starting from Bhaskara TV payload to the Mars Orbiter Mission payloads while being ISRO chairman.
BBMB organises blood donation camp
Chandigarh: The Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) on Thursday organised 61st Blood Donation Camp in association with the team from PGI’s Department of Transfusion Medicine in the BBMB Rest House, Sector 35-B, Chandigarh. BBMB organizes blood donation camp every year to commemorate the death anniversary of its former chairman late Maj Gen BN Kumar. BBMB has been organising Blood Donation Camps since 32 years at its all project stations. The camp was inaugurated by BBMB Member (Power) Harminder Singh. As many 163 officers and officials of BBMB donated blood.
PU celebrateS Guru Nanak’s birth anniversary
Chandigarh: Panjab University’s Department of Biophysics on Thursday organized a special lecture on “Guru Nanak: Yug Purush” to commemorate the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev, by Prof Ishwar D Gaur from the PU’s Department of Evening Studies, Multi Disciplinary Research Centre. He gave very enlightening talk stating that Baba Nanak belongs to all and cannot be fossilized. He also mentioned all the historic contributions of Guru Nanak to the audience.
