Integrated Command and Control Centre inaugurated in Doon

Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the Dehradun integrated command and control centre- Sadaiv Doon- built at cost of Rs 234.85 crore under the Smart City mission at IT Park on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Rawat said that prime minister Narendra Modi had presented to the nation the plan for developing 100 cities across the nation into smart cities.

Though Dehradun was selected in the fourth round, the city has managed to rise in the rankings to the 25th position.

He said that Dehradun will be the nation’s first city under the project which will be developed as a fully smart city.

Paying homage to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary, he announced that the new collectorate building being built under the project will be named after Vajpayee.

He further said that the integrated command and control centre will facilitate monitoring of traffic, measurement of pollution, surveillance system and other aspects. The centre will also prove helpful in making various existing facilities orderly.

This centre will also prove helpful in crowd management and other activities during the Kumbh Mela to be held in Haridwar during 2021. Rawat said, “Along with smart city, we also need to lay special focus on sanitation.

 The people of Dehradun are cooperating in stopping the use of single-use plastic with about 75 per cent drop being registered in the use of polythene in the city.

Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’ also addressed the gathering on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Dehradun Smart City Limited chief executive officer Ashish Kumar Srivastava informed that the integrated command and control centre will prove useful especially in management of traffic and disaster management by providing timely information.

The centre will enable real time data capture through sensors and other devices for various purposes including security surveillance.

There will be 49 traffic signals, 133 ANPR cameras, 58 red light violation detection units, four speed violation detection units, 470 surveillance cameras, 24 public address systems, 50 variable message displays, 35 emergency call boxes, 300 WiFi points and other facilities as part of this set up.

Transport, healthy and safe citizens, city aesthetics and identity, core infrastructure and other aspects will be included in the 10 wards under Area Based Development (ABD) project.  The pan-city project includes the integrated command and control centre- Sadaiv Doon, OFC cable, beautification of MDDA park at Rajpur, citizen outreach programme and MDDA automation service among other works.

 Srivastava further informed that during December 2018 Dehradun was ranked 99th in 100 cities but has risen to 25th rank at present.

 Tehri MP Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah, MLAs Vinod Chamoli, Khajan Das, Ganesh Joshi and other senior officials were also among those present on the occasion.
