J&K and Ladakh to enjoy real development now: Bhatt

Monday, 12 August 2019 | PNS | Dehradun

Abrogation of Article 370 will now pave the way for real development in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, said the Bharatiya Janata Party state president and MP Ajay Bhatt.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, Bhatt said that the decision taken by the Union Government had fulfilled the long standing wish of the citizens for one nation, one constitution and one flag. This will herald in a new era of development in the newly created union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. He said that abrogation of Article 370 had fulfilled the dreams of Sardar Patel, Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Shyama Prasad Mookerjee and Atal Bihari Vajyapee. Praising the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union minister of Home Affairs, Amit Shah he credited their will power and commitment for the achievement of a task that had seemed impossible. He said, “The implementation of Article 370 had prevented actual development in Jammu and Kashmir while enabling three families to loot the state. About 42,000 people died due to terrorism and insurgency during the past three decades. While women did not have equal rights, the members of scheduled caste and scheduled tribes could not avail of reservation. Members of the Valmiki community residing there for 70 years were appointed only to the posts of sanitation workers. One could not complain to the election commission about wrongdoings in the elections. Corruption could not be investigated and the facilities provided to the erstwhile state were benfitting mostly three families. The terrorists and separatists not only ruined the future of the children but also poisoned their minds.”

Questioning the stance of the Congress party regarding the abrogation of Article 370, the BJP State president said that the Congress has once again proved that it supports the separatists and that it speaks the same language as Pakistan. Stating that the Congress had damaged itself by taking such a stand, he also appreciated the few Congress leaders who had supported abrogation of Article 370 in national interest. Bhatt said that now development will take place in the real sense in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. The various facilities and development opportunities provided to citizens living in other states will now be made available to the people in this region too. A conducive environment will be facilitated to ensure return of those who were forced to migrate from the region due to terrorism. Recalling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech he said that terrorism will be eradicated and ease of living will be enhanced in the region. The people will also be able to avail the benefit of Central Government schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Ujjwala among others. BJP State general secretary and MLA Khajan Das, state media in-charge Devendra Bhasin and others were present at the Press conference.
