Class X & XII passout student whose family income is less than Rs 8L per year are eligible for this scheme: Kejriwal

Ensuring basic fundamental right of education and smart career growth for every student of Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday announced the Cabinet approval of expansion of Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojna. Now, any student having passed Class X and XII from Delhi and whose family income is less than Rs 8 lakh per year will be eligible for this scheme.

Kejriwal said poor students are also intelligent but do not get opportunity due to lack of financial isues. "Our scheme is for each and every student of Delhi and they will not be deprived of higher education due to lack of resources," CM said. "Our Government is giving maximum attention to education. It is our aim to ensure that no child born in Delhi should be bereft of good education in this age of stiff competition due to poverty or lack of resources. To achieve this goal we have taken many steps."

"On the one hand we have made education completely free till Class XII and on the other hand we have completely changed the picture of government schools, these used to be in very bad condition earlier, and now these schools shine," Kejriwal added.

Recalling Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Kejriwal said that it was his dream to see that poor and needy children get good quality education.

 "Till now this scheme was only for students of Scheduled Castes category and maximum financial assistance was Rs 40,000. Today the cabinet has decided to expand this scheme in scope and duration," he said further.

Under this scheme, students from SC, ST, OBC and EWS category who are residing in Delhi and who passed their matriculation and higher secondary from Delhi schools are eligible to get financial aid from Government.
