Union minister of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, and Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar will be the chief guest at the fifth convocation of Forest Research Institute (FRI) Deemed University to be held here on September 7.
The convocation will also be attended by Siddhanta Das, Director General of Forests and Special Secretary to Government of India, Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change as the special guest with SC Gairola, chancellor of FRI Deemed University and director general of Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education presiding over the function.
The university’s vice-chancellor and FRI director AS Rawat will present the detailed report of the university. The university’s dean (academic) HS Ginwal said that the fifth convocation, like the past four ceremonies will bring the entire university together to witness the conferring of degrees to individuals across the academic and research disciplines. The university registrar AK Tripathi stated that altogether 62 PhD degrees in various disciplines of forestry and 253 masters degree in Forestry, Wood Science and Technology, Environment Management and Cellulose and Paper technology will be conferred during the convocation.
He further informed that in total nine outstanding performers in various courses will be awarded gold medals. Over 500 candidates and guests will share in this festive occasion.
